Becoming a Professional Genealogist (VLOG #3)

Vlog #3

In this video I give an update on proving the connection between my family and the possible relatives that I recently discovered. Just a week ago I found them through a clue in the 1900 Census record from New Jersey and we have been able to prove this further with more documentation. Now we are looking to DNA to prove the connection we have built with the paper trail and being he has already tested on 23andMe, he is looking to upload to FamilyTreeDNA so we can see if there is a match.

I also talk about starting the process to get a Board of Certification for Genealogists (BCG) certification in my quest to become a professional genealogist. After getting the Genealogy Standards book I am getting ready so I can apply for my certification.

  1. Good luck with working on BCG certification! I am starting work on my portfolio too. It is no easy task!

  2. Yes, I uploaded my 23andMe data to FTDNA. The basics are free, but comparing, etc, costs only $19. So, it's not too bad anyway. (BTW, this is sahgamers from reddit)
