  2. Could you take a DNA test so they can tell you who are your biological ancestors are and where are they from? Hopefully your family tree has a lot accurate information and sourced really well if you take a DNA test and linked it to your tree, Andrew.

  10. To me this is just one big con . Just a communist way invented to try to discredit White people and say they have none white ancestors . People who pay all this money .? Seriously must be really insecure or just have rocks in their head .? If you do not know your nationality or history then you must me thick as ? Fact how can a white baby ' to a white mum and a white dad who's born in China where the people are yellow with slinty eyes be Chinese .?

  13. Would you suggest AncestryDNA for a very very mixed person like me? Because Iam Royal blooded and I am basically every ethnicity or almost every at least. I only ask because of their accuracies and how much people Iam really related to since I have a very large family history along with some health conditions.

  19. You do know that this is SCAM and not in the least bit accurate. It told me my ancestors were from China. My grandmother was Scottish, my grandfather on my Dad's side was English. I have absolutely no oriental blood in my DNA. They are frauds.

  20. How can they find my ancestors if my ancestors never had a DNA test? All of my ancestors that I know of, that go back 5-6 generations are all from the same place. I researched it from my father's birth certificate. I went to his place of origin, where they have the records. So it would be interesting to see how accurate the test is. Im 100% of my nationality for quite a few generations but I wouldn't be surprised if I had something else because a group of people conquered the country back in the medieval days. Interesting. I'm just a little skeptical.

  21. Successful adoption find here: First tested with 23&me at the end of 2017. 3 second cousins aligned with my chromosomes, but only two were sharing. One chose not to answer at all, one was a certifiable redneck who I figured out with a cross reference on Facebook, and didn't pursue. The other broke off communications with me unexpectedly. Two days ago, my results came in at Ancestry, and it came up with 4 first to second cousins. I immediately contacted the first one on the list, and I'm still waiting for a response there. The next day I was messaged by my second, first to second cousin, and through a series of messaging it was clearly evident that I was linked to her dad's 1/2 brother. So just like that in less than 5 days I found my birth father. Not sure about the mother yet due to the lack of info; however, I just found out today that she's still alive. Stay tuned for a follow up. BTW on 23&me my heritage came out 32%Scandinavia/Norway and 28%Brit/Irish. Ancestry was 58%GB…20%Ireland,Scotland,Wales..with no connections. Scandinavia was noted at 14% with a "possible connection" to Norway Østlandet & Vestlandet. So even though they both have different testing parameters, their results were essentially the same…minus the discrepancy in the totals.

  22. They sure spend a lot of money in advertising, or what I mean is they have to charge consumers a lot of money to pay for the advertising. If I was looking for employment, would you be one of those minimum wage corporations that can't afford to pay employees, or would I have to move to India.

  25. Sending your DNA out into the world, what could go wrong??? Pretty much anything and everything. We’re only scratching the surface. Might as well send your SS number, your bank PIN, toss in your account numbers and passwords too. DNA is a thousand times more personal.

    Why in the world would you past to give a company your DNA? Seriously, you’d have to be an idiot.

  29. If you are black, you need to use African ancestry.com if you want to know what part of Africa your ancestors came from. Those other DNA companies are for caucasians.

  30. I did one of these, I've always been under the understanding that I'm Mexican and mixed British due to my last name. As it turns out, according to this, I'm not British at all; I'm Greek and I NEVER would have guessed that.

  31. I have used both Ancestry and FamilyTreeDNA. Both have pros and cons, of course. I do like the Ancestry DNA Circles; it's a quick way to find who is matching on a particular branch of my family tree. I am not impressed with the FTDNA Chromosome Browser as that looks like they are dumping the work of assessing the results onto the customer. I am a geneticist by profession and I just don't see how FTDNA expects their customers to use the cM data to rule a match in or out.

  34. Ok so I have not ever know who my father is, nothing about him at all, my mother wasn't sure about who he was just a couple of guys names. Unfortunately she died and has taken all that info with her, she wasn't proud of it and didn't like to talk about it. I ordered ancestryDNA just thinking at least I will get to see some thing about his genetic make up in the least, after reading some comments would it be outlandish to assume I could possibly find him? Also what would be the best test for that specific purpose? Is there even such a thing or should I not get my hopes up? I swear I would probably not be able to hold my self together if I actually was able to even consider being able to acctually know is my father. Makes my heart beat heavy just thinking about it.

  35. I guess I am one of the few that just doesn't care about all this stuff. German, Norwegian, English and Czechoslovakian. All that from my grandparents when they immigrated to the states around the turn of the last century. Beyond that… ? Dont care.

  36. I know my father had 3 uncle's. All lived within 150 mile radius. I know my dad had six to eight cousins all living in the same 150 mile radius. From them I know I have at least a dozen cousins all within the same radius and I never met one. He never talked about it. Same with my mother. I never met a single relative and they both went to the graves without leaving a single clue. I just want to know what the hell I am.

What I found out about Ancestry.com is you are looking for someone record in your black side of family members it is hard to find but if you are looking for someone in your white side of family member it is easy to find. Especially if your family members are is from the south. Like my family members are from a place called Royston, Georgia in the United States.

  39. I never knew my father's biological father. If I do a DNA test (I'm female), will I be able to find his possible relatives if they've also signed up?

  40. Didn't watch this, but beware of the fact that ALL DNA companies sell your donated and tested DNA to other companies for God knows what reason, but there are a ton of reasons.

  42. My aunt has done EXTENSIVE research into my family tree on my mother's side. We can trace our family back to 9th century Norway. I just ordered the ancestry test to see what I find from my father's side, which I know very little about. I only know from my grandparents on. I'm so excited!!
